kio-locate 0.5.1 (KDE Improvement)
kio-locate 0.5.1 (KDE Improvement) This is kio-locate for KDE4.
After switching to KDE4 I really missed this add-on. Since it was not maintained any longer I had to port it myself :-)
kio-locate is a KDE I/O Slave for the locate command. This means that you can use kio-locate by simply typing in konquerors address box.
You can e.g. type "locate:index.html" to find all files that contain "index.html" in their name. There's even more: You can use kio-locate in all KDE applications, that accept URLs. Just take a look at the screenshots.
Thanks to Armin Straub, Tobi Vollebregt and Michael Schuerig for their great work.
changelog: kio-locate (0.5.1) -- Bernd Brandstetter
* Support for localization
* Added czech and greek translations provided by Pavel and Dimitrios - many thanks!
kio-locate (0.5.0) -- Bernd Brandstetter
* Ported to KDE4

Timer Plasmoid Companion Script 0.2.0 (KDE Other Utility)
Timer Plasmoid Companion Script 0.2.0 (KDE Other Utility) Summary
I never really cared much for GUI alarm clocks - they always felt like time wasters when I could just run something like "sleep 30m && mplayer -loop 0 /path/to/sound.file" and be done with it. Then I discovered the outstanding Timer plasmoid that ships with KDE 4.2. It did have one big caveat though: in its current state, there's no convenient way to have it play a sound repeatedly until the user acknowledges the alarm (Yes, I know I could put the aforementioned MPlayer command in the command field, but then I'd have to open a terminal to kill mplayer).
So I did what I always do when I run into an easy problem like that - whipped up a hacky-tacky little script to "fix" it. By default, it uses MPlayer to loop /usr/share/sounds/KDE-Sys-App-Positive.ogg until the user clicks OK in the dialog window that pops up (it uses KDialog for this, hence it being on kde-apps.org). If you don't have MPlayer installed, or you don't like the sound it plays, feel free to change it.
I mostly made this so I could use it with the Timer plasmoid, but you can also run it stand-alone. Run "tpcs --help" for details.
Instructions
Download the script and put it in your path (~/.local/bin, for example, but make sure ~/.bash_profile contains this line: PATH=~/.local/bin:"${PATH}").
Optional
Tell the Timer plasmoid (or whatever other program you may want to call it from) to run tpcs, as shown in the second screenshot.
TODO
Make sure MPlayer and the default sound file exist on the user's system; offer option to change them.
I'm open to suggestions for anything else.
changelog: 0.2.0 (3/11/10)
Use amixer to set Master and PCM volumes to 100% and 90%, respectively
Change default sound file to /usr/share/sounds/KDE-Sys-App-Positive.ogg, as some KDE users may not have Kopete installed
Minor code clean-up

Killswitch-Manager 0.1 (KDE Hardware Utility)
Killswitch-Manager 0.1 (KDE Hardware Utility) This applet controls killswitches and enables you to turn off or on radio devices.
I designed that application to use the wireless toggle function key on my Lenovo laptop which has a single toggle function key for 3 devices (bluetooth, wifi and ultrawideband).
I still need to figure out how to bind that applet to a function key (probably through HAL). If you want, you can contribute as described in the TODO file. Feedback is highly appreciated!
Enjoy!

simon (Speech Interaction Daemon) 0.3-alpha-1 (KDE Accessibility Application)
simon (Speech Interaction Daemon) 0.3-alpha-1 (KDE Accessibility Application) The project provides a ready-to-use interface for the julius speech recognition engine. It integrates into X11 and Windows.
simon can import dictionaries, grammar structures and compile a language model with the help of the HTK toolkit of the university of cambridge.
With the recognition results it can type texts, simulate shortcut sequences, start programs control your mouse and more.
simon comes with a complete manual describing the system. This manual and setup instructions are also available from our wiki: http://simon-listens.org/wiki
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need help!
changelog: 0.2:
Fixed the remaining known issues and added the manual.
0.2 rc1:
We've done a _lot_ of testing. Basically we tested every feature as well as we could and came up with a lot of bugs.
Well those are all fixed now :)
There are two issues left which are sadly quite bad: One crashes simon and one causes the recognition to stop without any error or warning what so ever. Both only get triggered when re-initializing the recognition and are related to Juliuslib. I hope to get that fixed soon.
But all in all, simon should be quite stable and ready for some productive use!
0.2-beta-3:
Introducing three new command plug-ins:
* List
A list of other simon commands; The user selects one of the commands using numbers 1-9; If there are more than 8 commands in the list, the list only goes from 1-8 and 0 and 9 are can be used for scrolling (0: up; 9: down).
* Composite
Combines other simon commands in one "Macro". The user can even define delays between the invocation of two sub-commands.
* Input Numbers
A calculator-like front-end to input long numbers with ease.
Also, the desktop-grid can now be completely controlled by voice.
The recording widget now displays the current "loudness" of the input while recording. This should help to weed out not working / badly configured microphones.
Updated Julius to the current SVN versions with minimal modifications.
Bug-Fixing all around - especially related to sound and recognition.
0.2-beta-2:
Fixed various bugs related to the grammar which caused it to not get saved most of the time. It is now again possible to add multiple words at once without losing samples. All input files to the importing functions (dictionary, texts, etc.) are now checked if they exist before the importing begins. simon now compiles also on Ubuntu Hardy Heron (KDE 4.0) Removed KDE-Includes when building julius (a lot of warnings due to strict compiler flags) All libraries are now installed correctly.
0.2-beta-1:
Bugfixing all around.
Fixed a whole lot of libjulius / sent related issues regarding stopping / starting of the sound-stream.
Fixing the Windows Version.
Introducing CPack support for quick package building.
0.2-alpha-1:
Porting to KDE 4
Removed Juliusd in favor of simond:
* Network audio streaming
* Recognition and model compilation on server
* No processor intensive calculations on the client (opens the door to development of solutions for embedded devices, etc.)
Revised and greatly improved command plugin architecture
* Individual triggers per plugin
* Runtime module loading / unloading (even the configuration of the modules)
Introduction of ksimond - a frontend to the simond recognition server
And much, much more...
0.1-alpha-2.1:
A lot of compatibility fixes.
0.1-alpha-2:
Too many changes to count - here the most important ones:
Fixed about a gazillion bugs.
Streamlined the interface.
The command-system has been completely rewritten.
A few performance optimizations.
Introduced a structured build-system.
Switched to portaudio backend for more compatibility.
Did I mention fixing bugs? Lots of them...

QjackCtl 0.3.6 (KDE Sound Application)
QjackCtl 0.3.6 (KDE Sound Application) Qjackctl is a simple Qt application to control the JACK sound server daemon, specific for the Linux Audio Desktop infrastructure.
Written in C++ around the Qt4 toolkit for X11, most exclusively using Qt Designer.
Provides a simple GUI dialog for setting several JACK daemon parameters, which are properly saved between sessions, and a way control of the status of the audio server daemon. With time, this primordial interface has become richer by including a enhanced patchbay and connection control features.
changelog: 0.3.6 2010-03-09 Full D-Busification!
- Make sure socket names are unique on each side of the Patchbay (another patch from Dominic Sacre, thanks).
- A bunch of primitive D-Bus interface slots have been added, allowing shortcut access to most of main applications actions like toggling Messages, Status, Connections, Patchbay widget pop-ups, reset stats, transport and so on. New bindings are given eg. via dbus-send --system / org.rncbc.qjackctl.(main, messages, status, connections, patchbay, setup, about, reset, rewind, backward, play, pause, forward). (from an original idea from Sebastian Gutsfeld, thanks).
- Patchbay snapshot now tolerates JACK client port strings that have more than one semi-colon in it, honoring just the first one exactly as everywhere else eg. Connections. (a glitch as reported by Geoff Beasley while using a2jmidid).
- Most modal message dialog boxes (eg. critical errors) are now replaced by system tray icon bubble messages where available (mitigating feature request #2936455).
- Comply with jackd >= 0.118.0 which now runs in real-time mode by default; use of -R is now deprecated from the jackd command line interface options; use -r to run in non-real-time-scheduling.
- A man page has beed added.
- Got rid of a pretty old and never really useful "jackd-realtime" server path option--actually, it was only seen available on the now defunct old Mandrake Linux distro.
- D-Bus support, as provided by org.jackaudio.service aka jackdbus, is now being introduced and used wherever available and whenever enabled. Configuring, starting, stopping and logging the JACK back-end server through the "infamous" jackdbus service is now being seamlessly exploited.
- Global configuration state is now explicitly saved/committed to disk when Setup dialog changes are accepted and applied.
- Server name command line option added (-n, --server-name).
- Single application instance restriction option added (X11).
- Setup for the netjack (slave) "net" driver has now sample-rate and frames per buffer (period size) settings disabled and/or ignored, as those are pretty much auto-detected by default; also, a new "netone" backend driver option has been introduced (as suggested by Torben Hohn).
- Czech (cs) translation added (by Pavel Fric).
- Fixed some main window keyboard shortcuts. Escape key now closes Connections, Patchbay, Status and Messages widgets as usual (bug #2871548).
- Fixed glitch on configure portaudio support, specially when the library is not detected as available.
0.3.5 2009-09-30 Slipped Away!
- Late support for UTF-8 encoded client/port names.
- Allow only one single patchbay connection to or from an exclusive socket (mitigating bug #2859119).
- Automatic crash-dump reports, debugger stack-traces (gdb), back-traces, whatever, are being introduced as a brand new configure option (--enable-stacktrace) and default enabled on debug build targets (--enable-debug).
- Probable fix on the audio connections with regard to client/port (re)name changes (an ancient bug reported by Fons Adriaensen).
- Portaudio device selector is now available (after a patch handed by Torben Hohn and Stephane Letz).
- A couple of primitive D-Bus interface slots have been introduced, giving the option to start/stop the jackd server from the system bus eg. via dbus-send --system / org.rncbc.qjackctl.start (.stop), (a nice addition supplied by Robin Gareus, thanks).
- New command line option (-a, --active-patchbay=[path]) to specify and activate a given patchbay definition file (a simple patch sent by John Schneiderman, thanks).
- Added one significant digit to DSP Load percentage status display.
- Tentative support for netjack (slave) by adding the "net" driver to the existing backend driver options on the Setup/Settings section.
- Converted obsolete QMessageBox forms to standard buttons.
- New patchbay snapshot now raises the dirty flag and allows for the immediate salvage of patchbay definition profile.
- Conditional build for JACK port aliases support (JACK >= 0.109.2).
- Alternate icon sizes other than default 16x16, are now effective to the Connections widget (Setup/Dislay/Connections Window/Icon size).
0.3.4 2008-12-05 Patchbay snapshot revamp.
0.3.3 2008-06-07 Patchbay JACK-MIDI, file logging and X11 uniqueness.
